World Book Day 2026
ON Thursday 5th March, the whole school celebrated World Book Day. Children and staff came into school dressed either as a character from a book or in comfortable clothes which they enjoy reading in. David from Waterstones, came into school dressed as Sherlock Holmes and ran a book shop in the hall with Ruth Saunders, one of our volunteers, so that every child could swap their book token for a book. Earlier in the week, all the children had spent time looking at the books so they knew which one they were going to choose.
Zoe Arena, a local author, came in and spent the morning with KS1, where she read them her latest book; 'Mandy is still a banana'. She spent the rest of the morning with the children talking to them, answering questions and doing some creative activities. Next week, Thomas Taylor, another author, will be visiting KS2 and running a workshop with our Y5 class.
We finished our day in the hall where prizes were awarded to children in each class for the best contributions to WBD, we looked at everyone's costumes before singing our World Book Day song; 'Reading is Amazing' by MC Grammar.
Here are some of the best photos from the day.
