Hello from Mrs Elmes
I am Mrs Elmes and have worked with this age group for over 30 years and I would not work anywhere else. This class is my 10th at Hawkhurst. I wear a few hats at school – I am the Class Teacher, Acting Assistant Head, Paediatric First Aider, Phonics Leader and Forest School Leader. It can get quite busy! I love purple and my favourite animal in an owl.
Mrs Haynes is the full time Teaching Assistant in the class and will be working to support the children in their learning and in their independent exploring time. She is also one of the lunchtime supervisors who will ensure that the children are safe and sound at lunchtime in the playground. Her favourite colour is orange and she enjoys spending time at the beach. | |||||

Term 2 - This term our English text was 'Out and About' by Shirley Hughes. We learnt about the seasons, had a go at acting and explored the wind, sand, mud and water to build our descriptive vocabulary.

Term 2 - In computing we have been learning how to log on and search for a website on the internet. We then moved on to practicing our clicking and dragging skills and created beautiful pieces of artwork using shapes and colours.

Term 2 - In Maths we have been looking at 2D shapes. We followed a instructions to make a shape pizza.
Term 2 - Red Class have been very busy in Forest School this term. They have been exploring and making animals using modelling clay and things they can find in the Forest School area. They have also been making their own paintbrushes using natural materials so they can paint pictures.
